50 out of 100  Damn!
Christopher from Galway, 19 Jun 2009
Two powerhouses of acting square off as a charismatic priest is confronted by a mother superior. She is convinced he is up to no good. Is she just out to get him or is he up to something sinister? Well paced, well portrayed, well cast (and them some), this movie will no doubt have you wondering the whole movie if he did something wrong. Not a commentary on the church nor anti-religious, in fact the snippets of sermons shown are better than what you'll hear most Sundays. Well worth a watch!

45 out of 100  Breathtaking!
Lyn from Cork, 26 Jun 2009
This is probably the most thought provoking film I have ever seen and is a true master piece. It will really make you question your morality and your life choices and clearly shows the complexity of human interaction - life is never simple or straight forward. The cast are absolutely brilliant too. Watch it and prepare to be stunned!!!!

25 out of 100  Not as good as I thought it would be
Tracy from Dublin, 14 Sep 2009
I was quite disappointed with this. Yes the acting is really impressive but I felt that the story didn't really have much substance, there was no climax, it really just rolls along while you're waiting for something interesting to happen. It doesn't. What could of been a really gripping story felt contrived and a bit boring like I'd seen/heard it all before

15 out of 100  Dull story
Rachel from Cork, 26 Jun 2010
I cant deny that the acting in this movie was superb. However that is where it ends. The story was dull and depressing and a complete waste of my time. I waited for a twist or a turn and was left disappointed. I thought Meryl Streep and Amy Adams were wonderful but would hesitate to recommend this movie to anyone expecting to be entertained!

30 out of 100  Doubt indeed
Mark from Dublin, 02 Jul 2009
I am a huge fan of Hoffman not so keen on Streep but this was an okay outing by both think the film had great potential and was building up to it but then decided to just tidy up the story to get an ending but I suppose that is whole point in that it casts doubt one to watch I just though it was not as good as it could have been

40 out of 100  Excellent Movie
Marilyn from Dublin, 07 Sep 2011
This is an excellent exponent of what happens when you put 4 fantastic actors together backed by writing and a director which gives them plenty to chew on. There is an astonishing scene stealing turn by Viola Davis. Considering the plethora of crap that is coming out of Hollywood recently this is truly a gem

Kelly from Dublin, 23 Aug 2009
Excellent script. Wonderful performances. How could you go wrong with Philip Seymor Thompson and Meryl Streep?
